Lastly, when we were in San Francisco, a fan created one of the raddest videos  i have seen in a long time.  He created a montage of footage against a live recording of our single - Right Away.  He interjects some live footage now and again - and then, at the end - you get a suprise.

We are nearing the end of this record. We have been tracking/mixing our asses off this past week. Scott is doing an amazing job with these songs and we are very excited to hand this over to you - our loyal fans!

In non-related recording news - we leave for a brief tour next week. We are very excited about this upcoming tour b/c - frankly - we are missing the road. The smell of gasoline, pb&j, pbr as well as the sound of npr/christian talk radio has been lacking in our lives. We will be performing dates with some wonderful bands - Dan Deacon, So Many Dynamos, Slaraffenland (labelmates from Denmark). So,

We get a blog up and running and promise to post on a regular basis. But - what do we do? We post 3 or so times and then take weeks off. What shit is that? Sorry - y’all. Yep - I said y’all. We are currently back at Baucom Rd studios in NC. We are finishing up this record which is still currently untitled. What I do know is: it will be mixed and mastered in a little more than a week from now.

Let me leave you with some photos:

You might be wondering what the title of this post means. You might even “google search” it. Even with that - I would not be able to tell you what it means. Reason being: I don’t have a clue what it means either. It was a piece of miscommunication between Scott (our engineer) and I during some tracking. I had my headphones on and I swore he said: “It’s cool, I’ll just fix the ‘thunder carriage.’ I immediately asked: what does ‘thunder carriage’ mean? He seemed as perplexed as I was. We both then began laughing - what a term - ‘thunder carriage.’ It was one of the moments that defines the rest of the recording sessions.

Moving away from the lexical complexity of ‘thunder carriage’ - I spent a good deal of time watching planes arrive at Charlotte’s beautiful airport today. I drove there to pick up the wonderful Daniel Hart. Daniel is the frontman of the Chapel Hill band - The Physics of Meaning. He just flew in today from his tour w/ our dear friend Annie Clark (St. Vincent). He was playing his violin for the last three or so weeks with her.  Next on the docket for him is a tour with another friend  of ours - John Vanderslice - which begins in a few days. As it might appear - Daniel is in quite high demand and we are very lucky to have him. I will post photos of him and his violin once they transpire. With that said, you can see some photos of my drum kit set up for various songs:

So we knew that recording in August in Charlotte would be hot, but man get real. This 102 degree weather is ridiculous. But I digress; The recording is moving along very nicely. We had our wonderful friend, Kristen, come in and record some trumpet. Her execution was amazing. I was able to take a couple of pictures during some listening in between takes:

As you may have noticed, we ditched the website thing for a blog thing. This blog is temporary because we have the wonderful Joe Williams working on a new blog-style website soon to be. As for right now, you can think of this site as a recording diary. Andrew and I are currently in North Carolina w/ Mr. Scott Solter working on our third record. We record for the next 20 some days and then mix the record in September. We will try to update as much as possible while recording which should include photos as well as quirky studio anecdotes.
